How our Sessions Work

Both your Physical and Mental Health Matter!

As do the influences of biological factors, psychological factors, and social factors.

Initial Appointment

  • Complete assessment of your health and medical history along with your current lifestyle 
  • Complete screening paperwork as needed
  • Outline and define specific personal goals, concerns, questions, and areas needing support.

Future Appointments:

  • Check in how week has been
  • Assessment of goal-meeting progress
  •  Insight, inspiration, support and accountability to help you feel your best, physically and emotionally. 
  • Addressing any challenges or problem areas,
  • Tapping into relaxation methods and coping strategies to help you to stay motivated and inspired
  • Practicing several mind-body techniques such mindfulness, imagery, and emotional regulation

After Each Appointment:

You will receive detailed appointment notes including recommended action steps, resources, and informational handouts via email.

Approaches to Wellness

Humanistic and Mindfulness Approaches

Humanistic therapy works on the goal of living your most fulfilling life, largely by enabling you to be your true self. You’ll spend time exploring ways to grow and increase self-acceptance along with discussing the issues you’re dealing with.

Another important principle in humanistic therapy is unconditional positive regard. It can be useful for addressing:

  • self-esteem issues
  • difficulty coping with chronic health concerns
  • effects of trauma
  • depression
  • relationship issues
  • substance use disorder
  • feelings of worthlessness .

The Biopsychosocial (BPS) Model

 The BPS model states that relative health and disease is dependent on the interactions between these three factors. Their interplay thus determines the cause, manifestation and resolution of illness. For example, insults to the bodily health of a patient may be exacerbated by problems in their mental or social spheres of health. Illness may manifest in more extreme or chronic symptoms; it could be harder to treat effectively without addressing the issues outside of bodily health. By moving beyond the biomedical perspective of patient health, the BPS model recognizes the complex dynamic between biological, psychological and social life circumstances, providing a more holistic view to address health problems.
