Is you baby dysregulated?

Signs of dysregulation or trauma

  • unusually high levels of distress when separated from their parent or primary caregiver
  • a kind of ‘frozen watchfulness’ – ‘shocked’ or zoned out look
  • loss of playful and engaging smiling and ‘coo-ing’ behavior
  • loss of eating skills avoiding eye contact being more unsettled and much more difficult to soothe
  • slipping back in their physical skills such as sitting, crawling or walking and appearing more clumsy

Helping your Baby Recover

  •  Trauma can have a serious effect on babies. Many people wrongly believe that babies do not notice or remember traumatic events especially if they happened while still in the womb, but  the event is recorded in the child’s brain as a traumatic memory.

Providing support to help the family rebuild a safe, secure and nurturing home will help the baby recover.

Traumatic Experiences can be:

  • Prenatal substance exposure/ Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS, FAS)
  • Natural disasters, community violence, refugees
  • Military family-related stressors, ie. parental deployment or loss
  • Medical traumatic experiences (ie. NICU, prematurity, surgery)
  • Attachment and Bonding issues
  • Maternal Mental Health issues
  • Adoptive infants

Treatment Options we provide

  • guidance on secure attachment
  • bodywork, including massage and reiki
  • play and developmental tips and tools
  • lifestyle and nutrition support
  • social, emotional and cognitive stimulation
  • epigenetic and neurobiological support of prenatal and newborn development

Dr. Chasse is a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist

The Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist-Prenatal (CCTS-P) certification is designed using evidenced-based leading edge interventions and protocols that clinicians can immediately implement to augment their work treating trauma especially within a family context. It represents knowledge of how trauma, toxic stress and teratogens impact a mother’s body and nervous system before and during pregnancy. The CCTS-P Certification demonstrates knowledge of how and why stress and adversity affect the body and how our bodies react when regulated and dysregulated. The CCTS-P certification will aid clinicians in addressing and resolving client and family traumatic stress even when other primary diagnoses are present.  The design and implementation of treatment can have a powerful transformational effect that rapidly accelerates treatment.
